2020 is right around the corner and we can’t wait for a new year, full of fresh home design trends and inspirations! Here are some elements that we’re most excited for.
Bringing nature into your home is a great way to create a calming, welcoming space. Some of our favourite ways to incorporate these touches are through natural woods, organic fibres, sheepskin & live plants!
Your home should be your sanctuary, a getaway from the outside world. It’s all about finding the perfect balance between comfort and style! To achieve this, we look for textured fabrics and pieces that are comfortable. After all, does it matter how nice your couch looks if it’s too uncomfortable to even sit on?
If you love colour, this trend is for you! While white walls have been the popular choice as of late, colour blocking is a great way to bring personality and depth into your home. The best part? There are no rules- choose complementary colours or something more abstract if you’re feeling bold!
Benjamin Moore’s Colour of the Year for 2020 is “First Light”- a very pale, warm pink. Meant to freshen and uplift, it’s described as the perfect backdrop for a bright new decade. Other colours we are loving? Navy blue and hunter green- super on trend, but still a reliable neutral. Check out our Schonsee Show Home to see what we’re talking about!
Travel is an amazing way to get some creative inspiration and we are still seeing trends from all over the globe as we head into the new year! From simple Scandanavian design to bold and vibrant elements from Mexico, there’s something for everyone!
We don’t think Mid-Century Modern design will ever go out of style. Its signature clean lines create simple and versatile spaces that really make a statement! What was once the hottest design trend is now viewed as a classic- and it doesn’t show signs of changing anytime soon.
Black and Gold
Black and gold metals are a popular trend we are seeing, and for good reason! Gold adds a warm, luxurious touch to any space while still feeling classic. Black metal details give more of an industrial feel and pair well with a wide range of colours and finishes. What’s even better… mixing metals is now not only accepted, but encouraged!
Less is More
It’s all about quality over quantity! Rather than having a bunch of mediocre pieces to fill space, we’re all about investing in those quality pieces that you love. Good home design and decor will help you create those quality memories with friends and family, more than high square footage ever will!
While we love the designs that came out of 2019, we are so excited to see what’s in store for 2020! Do you agree with our predictions? What do you think we can expect to see in the new year? To check out some of our projects featured in this blog click here!
